Sdu
Sdu Information Solutions is part of Sdu Publishers. Throughout the years they went through a considerable transformation. From a traditional publishing company they have become a multimedia supplier. Sdu operates in four areas: legal, fiscal, government and business. Their customer portfolio consists of lawyers, tax specialists and other parties involved in (semi-) government and educational institutions.
Years ago Sdu was looking for a successor for their Vind-application. This is an application to distribute content among municipalities, provinces, and other government organizations. Later, Youwe developed the application as a CaaS solution, called Sdu Connect. This solved multiple functional and technical problems.
Our solution
Customers of Sdu Connect were dependent on their system administrator to install the original Vind software on their computer. The decentralized software provided limitations for future business models. This meant that the customers had to download and install the package again with every release. It caused customers to work on different software versions. Youwe solved this problem by rebuilding the application as a CaaS solution.
After a few years, the application contained a lot of legacy code. Youwe recommended building the new application with Microservices. This technique makes flexibility, scalability and independent module updates possible. The Microservices are combined with a Headless architecture. This headless architecture makes sure that data from the microservices landscape is displayed in an optimal way to different output channels, where data is key throughout the whole landscape.
The results
The CaaS solution made it possible for Sdu to offer a flexible, sustainable and user-friendly solution to their customers. More than 2,5 million Dutch end users consume information provided by this Content Delivery System, via websites of government organizations. It became easier to release new features and get more control over the distribution of software and ensure that customers use the latest version of the product. The use of microservices makes it possible for Sdu to execute the editing of content centralized and distribute it among government organizations. Government organizations are able to make adjustments to the content.
