Avebe's new PIM platform: one single point of truth
Youwe developed a PIM platform for Avebe to maintain all of its product information in a consistent and controlled manner.
The cooperative Royal Avebe U.A. is an international Dutch starch manufacturer located in the north of the Netherlands and produces starch products based on potato starch and potato protein for use in food, animal feed, paper, construction, textiles, and adhesives. About 2500 farmers are members of Avebe.
Avebe had a long-held wish to be able to manage all relevant data concerning the development of its products, from recipe to end product to the customer, in a master data environment.
This environment enables Avebe to quickly and efficiently share the right product information with customers and the internal organization. In the previous situation information was managed decentralized. Information was stored in multiple systems which caused insufficient quality assurance of data integrity and laborious processes for providing information to clients. Moreover, this process was labor-intensive and error-prone.
Youwe developed a solution based on Pimcore. A unique software stack that combines a powerful solution for Master Data Management with publication tools to process the acquired data into generated data publications.
Our solution
Master Data Management
Pimcore offers an efficient way - by using object properties - for multi-user and multi-domain Master Data Management (MDM), integration and enrichment of data from various sources. Such as ERP systems and third-party web services. At its core, Pimcore creates and manages the domain-specific main index by using the basic content management functionalities of Pimcore, such as object and class management, version management and asset management.
Cross-Media Publishing
Pimcore offers extensive support for your Cross-Media Publishing and Web-to-Print possibilities. In this case, Pimcore supports your master data management and offers from Master Data, including multimedia assets to desktop publishing products such as Adobe InDesign® and Quark Xpress®. It also supports the automatic generation of print-ready documents (PDFs). Pimcore actively supports the open-source single-source publishing approach.
Data integration
Data integration is one of the key ingredients for successful Product Information Management (PIM). In most cases, the main source of information is a legacy ERP system that is used to manage business-orientated product information. The input or output of objects is simply a matter of using the Pimcore API or obtaining them via the Pimcore web services. For automatic ETL processes (extraction, transformation, and loading) Pimcore can either be extended by plugins or by integrations with third-party systems.
