Smoothing the shopping experience for a wide range of electrical equipment

Youwe designed and developed a sophisticated Magento 2 shop, ensuring the best possible user experience for B2B and B2C audiences.

Elektrototaalmarkt, the online supplier of high-quality electrical equipment and tools to consumers and small businesses, wanted to become the market leader in the Netherlands. With a wide variety of premium brands, a highly-trained, dependable team, and strong customer relationships, the company turned to Youwe to strengthen its webshop.

Elektrototaalmarkt processes hundreds of orders through its webshop every single day. Each order consists of electrical engineering equipment and supplies, with many requiring extensive configuration and custom features.

Yet its e-commerce platform needed a serious update. The technology hadn’t been developed and implemented to cope with the complex demands of Elektrototaalmarkt’s diverse audiences. The experiential needs of its B2C audiences, combined with the complexity of B2B orders, meant that something needed to be done, fast.

Fortunately, Youwe was on hand to breathe new life into Elektrototaalmarkt’s online presence. A new Magento 2 (now known as Adobe Commerce) Commerce shop was proposed with a wide range of powerful custom features.

Our solution

An effortless shopping experience for electrical equipment

When customers are faced with choosing from a wide range of electrical equipment, technical parts and tools, they need a clearly defined shopping experience. They need to be able to find what they need, and they need a direct route to order completion.

Youwe smoothed that journey with a Magento 2 e-commerce solution that featured an extensive product configurator. We also implemented Tweakwise, an e-commerce software conversion booster that gives Elektrototaalmarkt total control over site search, tiered pricing, merchandising and recommendations. Alongside a related products section, included within the checkout process, we were able to ensure customers could locate and order everything they need to get the job done.

As Elektrototaalmarkt targets B2B as well as B2C customers, we implemented specific B2B features, too.

One option we created was the ability to fill the cart as a B2B user and request a personalized quotation before placing an order. Secondly, we created a custom pricing utility within Elektrototaalmarkt’s ERP for their bigger customers. Thirdly, we implemented a built-in VAT button. With one simple click, a B2B user can now easily see all product prices excluding VAT. All these functions are conversion boosters when properly implemented and deployed.

With Youwe’s help, Elektrototaalmarkt has transformed its online presence, strengthening its proposition and smoothing the user experience. Moving forward, we’ll be working together to improve the B2B journey even further, implementing new features like downloadable product instructions, alternative products and late delivery discount.
