When traffic management and safety supplier, POL Heteren, needed to improve its online game, it turned to Youwe for help. Despite its many satisfied customers, POL Heteren knew it could provide a better customer experience.
Founded in 1968, POL Heteren has a rich history of supplying traffic and safety products to the public sector. The company sells everything from street signs and lighting, to collision protection and speed bumps.
With an established e-commerce presence, and a string of satisfied customers who were happy with how the webshop functioned, POL Heteren could have sat back and enjoyed the success. Yet the company felt there was more they could do.
Youwe was appointed to explore the digital possibilities and ensure e-commerce was given the attention it deserved.
Starting from first principles, Youwe created a new Magento 2 (now known as Adobe Commerce) Commerce shop from the ground up. Partnering with POL Heteren, we ensured every drop of online potential was realized.

An outstanding user experience for B2B customers
Starting from first principles, Youwe created a new Magento 2 Commerce (now known as Adobe Commerce) shop from the ground up. Partnering with POL Heteren, we ensured every drop of online potential was realized.
As the product offering included street signs and road signs, we decided to integrate the Expivi 3D product configurator. This tool enriched the user experience and has also improved customer conversion. Close collaboration between Youwe and Expivi ensured that configured signs were always displayed perfectly on the website.
Youwe also turned to POL Heteren’s printed catalog to improve the user experience, integrating photos, usage examples and product options into the online shop.
The integration of products, prices and orders between the ERP and Magento were established using Alumio. A group of POL Heteren’s closest customers were invited to test the shop in a beta environment before going live. Thanks to this valuable period, bugs could be found and fixed, further platform optimisations could be built according to customer wishes, and POL Heteren’s most important customers felt that they were appreciated and fully engaged.
To further improve POL Heteren’s e-commerce success, Youwe also offered digital marketing services, including SEO, marketing automation, email templating and CRO. All adopted to extend the pool of potential new customers.
Experience design
Youwe's design team worked with POL Heteren to develop a user-friendly sign configurator. They created a comprehensive UX and UI design for the configurator, ensuring that it met the needs of POL Heteren's target audience. Additionally, they developed a visually appealing UI design for the platform, which provided a seamless user experience. Overall, Youwe's design team played a key role in creating a successful and user-friendly sign configurator for POL Heteren.

After our comprehensive build and testing procedures, the go live couldn't have progressed any smoother. With outstanding collaboration between Youwe and POL Heteren, and by using the Youwe Quick Start Theme, rapid and smooth deployment of the webshop was made possible. And to ensure further online growth, joint objectives have been set and dashboards have been created. These are closely monitored by both parties and new goals are created through quarterly review meetings. The future is looking bright for POL Heteren.
