With Magento, Gallagher is now able to serve their customers and their dealers from one comprehensive online channel.
There was a need for a robust, future-proof online channel. The many dealers with their know-how and years of experience play an important role, as they they assist customers with advice. The wish for a B2B platform that could both serve customers and dealers was clear from the start. As Gallagher already knew they wanted Magento - they started out strong.
Gallagher made a strategic choice for Magento because the open-source platform offers freedom. It is supported and continually improving and there is no "vendor lock-in". The many possibilities for further development of the website also appealed to them, as they still had many plans for growth and development.
Electric fencing is a very specific market, and given that every customer has different wishes, Gallagher wanted to be one step ahead. Youwe developed a custom Magento module in which customers could specify animals, corners, distances and openings for a fencing setup. The module would suggest a few options for the customer, based on the existing Gallagher database. If the customer wanted to purchase, they can do so immediately, and pick up their order with a dealership in their area within two days.
As Gallagher operates internationally, it was extremely important that the product and order databases were up to date. The connection with the ERP was established, and was extended with the option to connect additional databases. With several warehouses in different countries, many languages spoken in a variety of countries, it is important to serve the customer the right information. Geolocation now helps Gallagher automatically determine which warehouse (and stock) applies to a visitor, which a visior can also change manually.
