Seamless replatforming for Fairphone commerce platform

Solution

Youwe took over the support of the existing Magento 2 platform and assisted in their migration to Odoo Commerce. The main reason for migrating to Odoo Commerce was the seamless integration with the existing Odoo ERP system of Fairphone. After the MVP migration to Odoo, Youwe joined forces with Fairphone by offering UX/CRO expertise, working together in continuous improvement of the user experience.

Whilst transitioning to Odoo, Fairphone encountered constraints in the frontend development capacity of their newly engaged partner. Recognising the urgency inherent in adhering to migration timelines, our team swiftly intervened, assimilating our expertise to ensure Fairphone's seamless migration within the deadline.

Until recently, the Fairphone webshop operated on Magento 2. The decision to transition to Odoo prompted the Youwe development team to assume a supervisory role, ensuring a seamless migration. At the same time, we offered design and development support from our Digital Studio to seamlessly align the aesthetics of the new platform with those of its predecessor.

Following the successful facilitation of the replatforming initiative and the integration of design for the Odoo platform, Youwe received a subsequent request to fill in unexpected fall-out of internal Fairphone capacity to assure timely delivery of the project. Additionally, our support extended to A/B testing to get clear data insights to optimise the Fairphone user experience, emphasising Conversion Rate Optimisation (CRO).

Fairphone sought design expertise to improve vital components of the commerce platform like the Checkout, Product Configurator and the Log In/Account Creation journey.

To assure the success of Fairphone's commerce activitiy we have assisted in a new product campaign for enhanced user engagement. By mapping the user journey for Fairphone devices and reinforce brand values through new interactive website elements we have supported Fairphone to improve their online business.

Fairphone faced unexpected delay in their go to market for the renewed Odoo platform, causing a two-month delay. Youwe was able to assemble a rapid response team that could swiftly support Fairphone in making their new go live date. Despite the rescheduled launch, the Youwe team remained flexible and effectively supported Fairphone throughout the migration process, in addition to providing development support to help Fairphone migrate to their new brand to the Odoo components.

Customer Centric Experience

During the Magento to Odoo migration, a heightened emphasis on design emerged, requiring a seamless user experience. To address this, Youwe provided design support with a specific focus on translating existing Magento design elements for compatibility with the Odoo platform.

Fairphone's design support requirements encompassed several key aspects. Firstly, there was a need to enhance the Checkout flow and Product Configurator, ensuring a seamless and intuitive user experience through user research and wireframing iterations. Additionally, a new Log In/Account Creation journey was devised to align with various website flows. The support extended to a new product campaign aimed at bolstering user engagement and maximizing visibility. 

The user journey for Fairphone devices, spanning live, end of sales, and end of life stages, was meticulously mapped out. This involved identifying touch points and primary user tasks, leading to a redesign of corresponding eCommerce pages. Lastly, the initiative included reinforcing the communication of Fairphone's brand values through the integration of new interactive website patterns and pages that spotlight storytelling elements.

 

The results

Dedicated design support

Youwe was enlisted by Fairphone to provide maternity leave design support, initially at 40 hours per week for a four-month duration. Originally intended as a straightforward replacement, the request evolved to a nuanced approach, with a revised scope of 40% replacement and 60% advanced support. This advanced support was focused on enhancing UX and providing A/B testing assistance, constituting an ongoing project.
